Mr. Simon is the Head of Ratings and Research Division at VIS Rating, responsible for developing credit rating methodologies and processes aligned with Moody’s standards while adapting them to the Vietnamese market. He oversees credit rating activities, ensures research quality, and provides training for the credit rating team.
Previously, Simon served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Management – Asia Pacific at Moody’s Investors Service (MIS), based in Singapore. In this role, he drove business growth in ASEAN, worked with senior MIS leadership to identify core franchise opportunities, and led the establishment of VIS Rating in November 2021.
Simon has over 15 years of experience in credit rating and research, focusing on Asian Financial Institutions. He was the lead analyst at MIS for banks, finance companies, and securities firms across ASEAN and spearheaded research and outreach for Islamic Finance in Asia. He has built strong relationships with issuers, regulators, and investors, authored notable research, and participated in media interviews and investor conferences.
Simon previously worked at Deloitte & Touche, Barclays Capital, and United Overseas Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He is a CFA Charterholder, with certificates in Green and Sustainable Finance and Sustainability and Climate Risk.
