Seminar "Developing Vietnam's Corporate Bond Market Towards 2030: Perspectives from Credit Ratings"

On May 17, 2024, in Hanoi, Vietnam Economic Times/VnEconomy, in collaboration with Moody's Ratings and VIS Rating, organized the seminar "Developing Vietnam's Corporate Bond Market Towards 2030: Perspectives from Credit Ratings." The event aimed to share international experiences and discuss their application in Vietnam, targeting to elevate the corporate bond market size to at least 25% of GDP by 2030.

The seminar focused on two main topics:

  • Part 1: Analyzing and assessing the current state of Vietnam's corporate bond market and learning from the experiences of regional countries in market promotion.
  • Part 2: Developing the GSS (Green – Social – Sustainable) bond market, proposing solutions to accelerate sustainable finance in Vietnam.

Three key presentations were delivered:

  1. Trends and bottlenecks in 2024 for Vietnam's corporate bond market – Perspectives from credit ratings.
  2. The onset of a new cycle: Experiences in promoting sustainable growth from regional markets.
  3. Accelerating sustainable finance activities in Vietnam and beyond.

Distinguished guests included:

  • Mr. Hoang Van Cuong, Member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Economic Science Association.
  • Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha, Deputy Head of the Research and Policy Coordination Department, National Financial Supervisory Commission.
  • Mr. Tran Le Minh, General Director of VIS Rating.
  • Mr. Jeffrey Lee, Asia-Pacific Regional Director, Moody's Ratings.
  • Ms. Ta Thi Bich Thao, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Bond Market Association.

Additionally, representatives from the State Securities Commission, Institute of Financial Strategy and Policy, Vietnam Banking Association, Vietnam Real Estate Research Institute, along with banks and enterprises, participated in the discussions.
